HULL, IOWA ~ William “Bill” Carl Klein passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Sioux Center Health surrounded by family after a year-long battle with cancer.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, at Calvary Protestant Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa, with Rev. Daniel Kleyn officiating. Private family committal service will be at Hillside Cemetery in Doon, Iowa, with Rev. Allen Brummel officiating, prior to the service. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa. The service will be livestreamed on the church website at calvaryprc.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Avera Musical Therapy Department.
William “Bill” Carl Klein was born June 22, 1950, in LeMars, Iowa, to Clarence and Henrietta (Kuiper) Klein. After attending Rock Valley Christian School and Western Christian High School, he moved to Hudsonville, Michigan at the age of 16.
While in Michigan, Bill met Val Baareman. Bill and Val married on August 23, 1968. After having their first child, Bill and Val moved to a farm south of Doon, Iowa. Here they raised their three children. Bill owned various businesses and farmed until his death.
Bill was a long-time member of the Doon Protestant Reformed Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, talking about his grandkids to everyone, riding his Harley, and visiting his neighbors on his side by side.
Bill is survived by his wife, Val, of 56 years; their children and grandchildren, daughter, Kim and Craig Vander Veen, their children, Nicole, Justin and wife Courtney; son, Chad and Jennifer Klein, their children, Alexis and husband Tony Draayer, Dalton and wife Sara Bennett, Will, and Elizabeth; son, Grant and Kalie Klein, their children, Eli, Ava, Tyce, and Avyn; two sisters and their spouses, LaJean and Howard Bonestroo and Laura and Gaylen TeSlaa; brother-in-law and his spouse, Vance and Phyllis Baareman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Vernon and Vera; and sister-in-law, Velma and her husband Walt Veldheer.
