Judy Johnsrud

Rock Valley, IA: Judith Johnsrud, 73, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, at 11:30 AM at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with Pastor Chris Van Beek officiating. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.porterfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/judy-johnsrud. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation with the family present will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home. 

   Judith Elizabeth (Schiller) Johnsrud, daughter of Harold and Marie (Arneson) Schiller, was born on November 20, 1952, in Wisconsin. Judy was raised in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin where she later graduated high school. She was united in marriage with the love of her life Eugene Johnsrud on June 27, 1981. The couple first made their home in Wisconsin. Due to Gene’s career, in 1992, the family relocated to Salem, Oregon where they enjoyed multiple adventures as a family. In 1994, the family made their final home in Rock Valley, Iowa. Prior to retirement, Judy, with her husband Gene, owned and operated JJ’s Valley Mart in Rock Valley.

   Judy will always be remembered for her kind heart and love for her family. Since retiring and selling JJ’s Valley Mart, Judy has filled her days with serving others by helping her daughters raise their families. Judy could often be found giving her grandchildren rides to their various appointments and activities, as well as running errands and helping her family in any way she could. Judy’s favorite activity was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren any chance she had.

   Judy is survived by her 3 daughters, Paula Strait, Gina (Kelly) Rozeboom, and Lindsay (Chuck) Kor, all of Rock Valley; 9 grandchildren, Dallas (Erika) Rozeboom, Cole (Dennica) Rozeboom, Austin (Courtney) Rozeboom, Jaxson (Abby) Rozeboom, Tielyr Rozeboom, Cozyn Rozeboom, Brittney (Zach) Bonnema, Ryan Strait, and Blakely Kor; 8 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Rowen, Kolt, Hennlie, Collyns, Wyatt, Bryson, and Brekyn; 6 siblings, Dick (Lynn) Schiller of Illinois, Dave (Kenneta) Schiller of Wisconsin, Pat (Don) Pomeroy of Arizona, JoAnn (Jeff) Ramsfield of Wisconsin, Pam Price of Wisconsin, and Dan (Jeanie) Schiller of Florida; 3 brothers-in-law, Sidney (Joyce) Johnsrud of Wisconsin, Howard Johnsrud of Wisconsin, and Brad (Sue) Johnsrud of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Johnsrud; parents, Harold and Marie Schiller; and parents-in-law, Donna and Paul Lund.
