Paula Schuller

Ireton, Iowa ~ Paula Schuller, 68, of rural Ireton, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 AM, at the Hawarden Community Center. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.porterfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/paula-schuller. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Ireton. Visitation with the family present will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 AM at the community center. A luncheon for family and friends will be at the Community Center following the interment service.

   Paula Jean (Kircher) Schuller was born August 4th, 1957, to Leland and Neva (Boisen) Kircher in Hawarden, Iowa. She spent her childhood on a farm near Hawarden and graduated from West Sioux High School in 1975. Paula then attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she earned an executive secretarial degree in 1976. Following college, she worked at a bank and lived in Sioux Falls. On August 5th, 1977, Paula married her high school sweetheart, Larry Schuller. In their early years of marriage, they lived on an acreage right outside of Ireton, Iowa. Paula worked at the lumber yard while Larry worked on the farm. In 1981 they moved to the Schuller family farm where she and Larry operated a dairy farm. Together, they welcomed their daughter Andrea in 1983 and son Eric in 1985. In 1999 they sold the dairy herd. While Larry worked with replacement heifers, Paula went to work at Farmers State Bank in Hawarden. Paula loved the outdoors, helping often with the calves, and working in her flower beds. She especially loved her grandkids, always keeping close tabs on them as they grew.

   In 2004 her life took a different course due to the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. As the years progressed and Paula’s physical abilities declined, she filled her time with loving and thinking about others. Because of the loving care of her husband, she was able to stay in the comfort of their home. Paula died peacefully on January 13th, 2026.

   Above all else Paula valued her faith. At an early age her parents instilled in her a respect for the Lord. As life continued, she chose to wholeheartedly trust in His plan for her life. When her physical strength lessened, her love and commitment for His will grew. In her last days she found much comfort in the hymns; many hours were spent in her chair appreciating their comfort and encouragement.

   She is survived by her husband, Larry; two children, Andrea and Barry Kracht of Hardwick, Minnesota and Eric and Jamie Schuller of Ireton, Iowa; sister Nancy and Dick Koob of Manly, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Meredith Kracht, Jayla (Blain) Anderson, Marissa Kracht, Quade Kracht, Trenten Schuller, Emmett Schuller, Breelyn Schuller, and Maeva Schuller.

   Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Neva Kircher.

   The family would like to thank all who remembered Paula and expressed care during her illness and season of need.
