About Us

Ricard "Ric" Porter grew up in Rock Valley, Iowa, attended South Dakota State University, graduated from the University of Iowa and graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1983. He lives in Hawarden, Iowa with his wife, Cynthia. Cynthia grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from Washington High School and Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they have four children, Zac who works for Black Hills Power and his wife Megan and their daughter, Penelope of Plainview, Nebraska, Courtney who lives in Boston and is a research coordinator at Boston Children's Hospital, Kristian who lives in Sioux Falls and works for CEGA Innovations, and Signe who is working on her Masters Degree at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Ric currently is serving as the Mayor of Hawarden. Cynthia enjoys assisting Ric at the funeral home with visitations and services and also serves on the Northwest Iowa Community College Board of Trustees. She is also active in many other community groups.

Sean is  honored to be able to help families celebrate the lives of their loved one. Sean grew up in the funeral profession, so he understands the care and commitment it takes to serve families who are going through one of the toughest times of their life. Sean began serving families at Porter Funeral Home in January 2012.

Sean is a native of Sanborn, Iowa. He graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science. He is a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA), and National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). In his spare time, Sean enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, playing golf and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Sean and  his wife, Jaclyn, live in Rock Valley along with their three children.
